about

This is the third of my "road trip" songs - and this one's a bit more autobiographical. Honeymoon Bay is both a real place that Ros and I love, but also a symbol of the need to take time to rebuild and renew relationships. Not everyone makes it, despite their best intentions.

lyrics

Taking to the highway
Leave this city behind
Turn the music up
And watch the ocean road unwind
Through all the twists and bends
We might never be here again
So I don't mind if we have to drive all day
To watch the sun go down on the water
at Honeymoon Bay

Seems so long ago
I can hardly remember when
Losing track of time
Nearly lost us everything
Cos even the best of friends
Don't always make it in the end
So I don't mind if we have to drive all day
To watch the sun go down on the water
at Honeymoon Bay

So take the long way home
There's nowhere we have to be
Turn off the telephone
We'll be dancin' to the radio
Walking in the moonlight
Talkin' after midnight,
Everything is alright now...

Splashing in the water
Laying around in the sun
Picking up the sea shells
Feeling like we're twenty one, again
Cos even the best of friends
Need a place to start again
So I don't mind if we have to drive all day
To watch the sun go down on the water
at Honeymoon Bay

Picking up the pieces
Diving in the deep end
Love is still the sweetest
At Honeymoon Bay
